Nine Albums: Black, White and Grey

Album covers constituted by only black, white and shades of grey are perhaps the most distinct and memorable, for me. Gesturing towards a rawness, intensity and single-mindedness in content, the minimal colour of these LPs is well reflected in the unity of sound and aesthetic in the album itself. Ka’s husky, unrelenting bars reflecting on the challenges of his life remain throughout. The almost transcendent groove and flow in Neu’s energetic 75′ album never ceases. The violently evil noise and doom of Dragged Into Sunlight stays painful for almost an hour.
